MODI COLLEGE ORGANIZES COMPETITION ON LEGAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN
Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized an extensive competition for generating awareness about the legal rights of women under the guidelines of National Women Commission and in light of instructions by the university Grants Commission. This competition was held to sensitize the students and to equip them with intensive legal awareness about their constitutional rights, government policies and legal acts regarding women. College principal, Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while discussing the theme of the competition said that legal awareness is the fundamental key to ensure gender-neutral society and pro-justice societal change. Dr. Baljinder Kaur (Head of Department, English) elaborated the different provisions of Indian constitutions and Indian legal system which systematically ensure access, affordability and utilization of legal services in case of any kind of victimization of women.
In the competition a large number of students from various departments of the college participated. In the competition, students attempted different questions regarding protection of women from domestic violence Act (2005). The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (1956). The Indecent Representation of women (Prohibition) Act (1986), The Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act (1987), The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (2013) and the criminal law Act (2013) and various other legal policies and programmes. The competition was held under the able supervision of Prof. Vaneet Kaur and Prof. Poonam Dhiman. Students of B-Com-II Sehaj, Ish Walia, Smiriti and Priya and students of B.A.-III and BA-II Shery Gupta, Ranjeet Kaur, Jaspreet Kaur, Nitika and Jyoti performed well in the competition.
On this occasion Prof. Shailendra Sidhu Prof. Shivani and Prof. Harpreet Singh were also present. In Legal Awareness Competition Shrey Gupta (BA-III) won 1st position, Ranjeet Kaur (BA-III) got 2nd position, Sehaj (BCom-II) secured 3rd place.

ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿੱਖੇ ਅੱਜ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਯੁਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਗ੍ਰਾਂਟਸ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰਗਤ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ, ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲਿੰਗ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਕਦਮ ਹੈ। ਡਾ. ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ (ਮੁੱਖੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ) ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਅੋਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਿਕ ਧਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਨਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਿਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਆਂ-ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਐਕਟ (2005), ਦਾਜ-ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਐਕਟ (1961), ਅਨੈਤਿਕ ਵਪਾਰ ਐਕਟ (1956) ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੱਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਐਕਟ (1986), ਸਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਥਾ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਐਕਟ (1987), ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਸਣ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਐਕਟ (2013) ਦੰਡ ਸਹਿਤਾ (2013) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵਿਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਪੂਨਮ ਧੀਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਯੋਗ ਅਗੁਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚਾੜੀ ਗਈ। ਬੀ.ਕਾਮ ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਸਹਿਜ, ਈਸ਼ ਵਾਲੀਆ, ਸਿਮ੍ਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬੀ.ਏ. ਭਾਗ ਤੀਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੀ.ਏ. ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਰੈਅ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਰਵਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਜਸਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਨਿਕਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਯੋਤੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਲੇਂਦਰ ਸਿੱਧੂ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ਿਵਾਨੀ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਐ ਗੁਪਤਾ (ਬੀ.ਏ.-3) ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ, ਰਣਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ (ਬੀ.ਏ.-3) ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ, ਸਹਿਜ (ਬੀ.ਕਾਮ.-2) ਨੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
